Kerbalaa Islamic Education Center

The Shia Education Center of Dearborn, the largest mosque in North America, is the center of Dearborn's Iraqi Shi'a community, with about 5000 members. It serves many social, spiritual,educational and athletic functions for the community. The education center hosts ESL classes and history courses for Iraqis, and lectures on the Middle East and Islam for the non-Muslim local community. It also provides social services for refugees, such as parenting classes, assistance with applications for US citizenship, and courts and judges often ask Sheikh Husainy's advice.
